The World We Live In

How do you feel about the rise of artificial intelligence? Did you ever anticipate a world in which all knowledge would be available to you at the click of a button, but that you would be flooded with information twenty four hours a day and often not be able to tell fact from fiction? Ready or not, that’s the world we live in. So we should at least prepare ourselves for it. And at Unity in Diversity, we believed in preparing our service users for it, too.

With the help of our partners at Digital Wales, we delivered a six-week course covering the essentials of online activity. Subjects covered included:

  • Introduction to Microsoft packages

  • Creating and saving your work

  • Email and basic online communication

  • Apps for everyday use

  • Social media and instant messaging

  • Introduction to cyber security

The course was a major success, and after six weeks our successful attendees received Digital Champions certificates. Even more pleasingly, that first group of trainees used their new skills to encourage others to follow them. Our Digital Champions helped to create more Digital Champions, and in the months that followed, more and more Unity in Diversity service users became better equipped for the challenges of the online world.

We’re excited by the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence and a rapidly evolving digital landscape, and we want our volunteers and service users to share in that excitement. Thanks to the training and support we can offer, we believe they can. Contact us at unitydiversity@gmail.com to find out more.
